All aspects of maintaining the golf course.

Assistant Superintendent

Woodmont Golf & Country Club
Canton, GA

Course Operation: Woodmont is a semi-private 18-hole, Robert Trent Jones Jr. Championship course .Dominant Plus Bentgrass greens, 419 Bermuda tees, fairways, and roughs.
Duties:
Position will manage and assist in all daily activities.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Calibrate and make applications of fertilizers and pesticides.
• Schedule, supervise and evaluate staff.
• Supervise and participate in irrigation scheduling and repairs.
• Train staff on proper techniques and safety. Follow-up with positive reinforcement or detailed ways to improve.
• Participate in all management practices required on Bentgrass greens.
• Observe and take action on any problems regarding the golf course and club house landscape.
Salary:

Requirements:
• Minimum of Associate Degree in Turfgrass Management or related field. B.S. preferred.

Assistant Horticulturalist

Reynolds Lake Oconee
Greensboro, GA

Course Operation: The Plantation, 18 holes; The Landing, 18 holes; Great Waters, 18 holes; The National, 27 holes; The Oconee, 18 holes; The Creek Club, 18 holes.
Duties:
Position will assist the Director of Horticulture in all areas of responsibilities with regard to the landscaping on the golf courses, Kingdom of Golf and clubhouses.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Through communication with the Director of Horticulture as well as personal observations the Assistant Horticulturalist prepares and executes a daily schedule.
• Monitors staff performance, documents necessary observations, monitors quality and quantity of work and provides input to staff.
• Ensures a safe and clean work environment for all employees by enforcing OSHA and EPA regulations and federal and state laws.
• Supervises and participates in the set up and monitoring of irrigation system, landscaping and all trees and all necessary inventories.
• Scouts the golf courses and clubhouses on a regular basis for insect, week, and disease problems. Diagnose any observations and take corrective action after discussion with Horticulturalist unless situation dictates otherwise
• Develops, implements and trains employees on departmental policy and training manuals
• Provides orientation to new employees on departmental policy
• Coordinates, schedules and inspects projects performed by outside vendors. Communicates with the Director of Horticulturalist when any changes or delays occur other than scheduled.
• Competent with irrigation management
• Develops and maintains complete record documentation for the landscape operation
• Provides input on projects, staff development, employee evaluations, discipline and termination issues and wage increases
• Assists with applicant interviews and Human Resource issues with the department
• Attends seminars and workshops for continued professional growth and development
• Receives and makes suggestions for improvements to procedure, equipment, etc.
• Should be familiar with office related computer software such as Microsoft Excel and Word
• Serves as departmental liaison between other departments and committees, e.g. Safety
• Complete and submit monthly Highlight reports to Director
• Other duties as assigned.
Salary:
$35,000 - $40,000.

Requirements:
QUALICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS/EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION:
• Minimum of Associate Degree or Certificate in Horticulture or related field from an accredited college, BS Degree preferred
• Minimum of two years experience at an assistant level and a total of five years experience in landscaping
• Total familiarity with calibration procedures for all applicable equipment such as sprayers and spreaders
• Ability to write reports and attend meetings. Confident with all areas of Landscaping
• Must be able to competently operate equipment as well as train and select employees for their proper use
• In conduct and department, the assistant should set an example for the staff
• Possess a Georgia Pesticide Applicators license in Category 24
• Ability to lead and motivate staff.
