Second Assistant

St. Ives Country Club/Brightview Golf Maintenance
Johns Creek, GA

Course Operation: St. Ives is a private 18 hole Tom Fazio design built in 1988, and underwent a renovation in 2013 which included a conversion to Mini-Verde greens. Zeon Zoysia tees and 419 Bermuda fairways and rough.
Duties: The Second Assistant will work closely with the Superintendent and First Assistant in all facets of golf course management including: training, scheduling and managing of the crew. Pesticide and fertilizer applications.
Salary: $40,000.

Course Operation: Capital City Club is an Atlanta private club established in 1883. Capital City Club consists of three separate facilities: a downtown City Club; the 18 hole Brookhaven facility in north Atlanta; and the 18 hole Crabapple facility in Milton. The Brookhaven course underwent a complete Bob Cupp renovation in 2008. The course features A-1 greens, Zorro Zoysia tees and fairways, and 419 Bermuda rough.

TPC Sugarloaf offers 27 holes of private golf designed by Greg Norman located within the gated community of Sugarloaf Country Club. Bermuda fairways. Currently under renovation, with two nines left to complete.
Duties: Assist with recruiting, hiring, scheduling and performance management of employees; Making daily golf course maintenance assignments in accordance with agronomic/turf management plan; Managing a crew of operators; Ensuring proper pesticide/fertilizer application and calibration; Assist Director of Golf Course Maintenance Operations with maintaining budgets.
Salary: $42,000.

The City Club Marietta is a public 18 hole course owned by the city of Marietta.
Duties: This is a hands on working position maintaining the course, daily set up control product application and irrigation system operation and repair. This position will be expected to take the lead in the absence of the superintendent or assistant.

Private 18 hole Arthur Hills designed course built in 1987. Redesigned and renovated in 2004 by Mike Riley Golf Design. Consistently rated in Georgia's top 20 by golf Digest. A-1 Bentgrass greens, Tifway II fairways and tees. Some tees with Zeon and some with Zorro. Natural areas with Tall Fescue, Broomsedge, Lovegrass, Muhlygrass.
Duties: Assist with scheduling, training, and management of hourly staff. Monitor moisture in greens, fairways, tees, and water as required. Apply granular and sprayable fertilizers and plant protectants to all areas of course and grounds. Troubleshoot and repair RainBird Par+ES controls. Assist with repair of irrigation line leaks.
Salary: $34,000/year.

Spray Technician I or II

As a State Park, Jekyll Island is a coastal haven where nature and humans peacefully co-exist. Jekyll Island Golf Courses include sixty-three holes on four breathtaking courses. Duties: Under general supervision, the Spray Technician II is responsible for detecting and diagnosing damaged turf, plants, shrubs, trees, etc.; determines and applies treatment as necessary. Calibrates equipment to ensure proper application of treatments, monitors the results of treatment, and assists with the general maintenance and upkeep of the Island landscape. In addition to spray responsibilities, the Spray Technician II will also perform upkeep and maintenance of golf courses, including mowing, pruning, and clearing debris as necessary. Detects damage to turf, plants, shrubs, and trees, diagnoses cause of damage and determines a treatment plan to rectify problems. Mixes chemicals for proper applications and applies required treatments to damaged greenery. Monitors results of treatments and adjusts dosages applied as needed. Removes dead plants and debris; rakes areas clean for replanting; removes trash. Applies pesticides with careful regard to the safety of humans, wildlife and environment; adheres to legal requirements and recommendations of manufacturers regarding the application of chemicals. Calibrates equipment to ensure the proper application of chemicals regarding quantity and effectiveness. Maintains accurate records of chemical usage and locations of usage. Adjusts treatment applications during inclement weather conditions. Responsible for general upkeep and maintenance of the Island by performing various landscaping duties including mowing, pruning, clearing debris, etc. Completes daily reports and updates on plant and route problems. Performs other duties as assigned.
Salary: $11.50 - 15.00 per hour.

Requirements: Applicants who do not meet the minimum requirements for Spray Technician II, may be considered for the minimum requirements of a Spray Technician I. Spray Technician II licensing and experience: Georgia pesticide license required; out of state license holders must be able to obtain GA License within 60 days of hire. Minimum 5 years experience working on golf course or landscape maintenance team, 3 years experience working with pesticides in a golf course or landscaping environment required. Spray Technician I licensing and experience: Georgia pesticide license required; if not already licensed, must take and pass Georgia Pesticide Category 24 Commercial Pesticide License within 90 days of hire. Minimum 2 years experience working on golf course or landscape maintenance team, 6 months experience working with pesticides in a golf course or landscaping environment preferred. High School diploma or equivalent required. Advanced education/degree in related field preferred. Must be 18 years old or older. Valid driver’s license required.
