Duties: PURPOSE OF POSITION: To assist the Superintendent and 1st Assistant Superintendent in all areas of responsibilities with regard to the maintenance of the golf course and supervision of personnel. Coosa is well known for being the host of many major Georgia Amateur Tournaments in Georgia. The 18-hole course features Penncross Bentgrass greens, 419 Tees, Fairways and Rough, Common Bermuda grass, and zoysia grass areas.  The AIT individual we are seeking needs to be hard working, self-driven, and a highly motivated person.  This is a hand on position that requires hard work and dedication to your career.  The job requires AIT to obtain a Ga. pesticide applicators license within 6 months of employment. Duties: The Assistant in Training will develop the skills and knowledge to assist in the management of all golf course maintenance responsibilities through a combination of training and hands on experience.

The Assistant in Training position at Coosa Country Club will be actively involved with golf course operations, spraying applications, irrigation and team development. Our goal is to help you lay a solid foundation on which to build a successful Golf Course Superintendent career.
The primary responsibility will be assisting the Golf Course Superintendent and the Assistant Superintendents in the supervision and training of maintenance staff as well as properly applying pesticides and fertilizer to the golf course. The AIT will also be involved with irrigation repair and maintenance as well as greens management and course set up.  The AIT position will have weekend crew management responsibilities every third weekend.

At Coosa CC we strive to inspire, motivate, and coach you to success. As a vital role to Coosa Country Club Golf Course Maintenance Team, the Assistant in Training is responsible for the maintenance and care of the golf course and grounds working directly with the Golf Course Superintendent and Assistant Superintendents. This is a transitional position to provide guidance for an individual’s growth and promotion in the golf course industry.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Golf Course Management:

Operations

  • Accountable for daily updating of course details and work progress spreadsheets

Duties: Responsible for safely operating grounds maintenance equipment including/but not limited to: golf carts, loader, dump truck, aerial bucket truck, gators, string trimmers, mowers: tractor, fairway, greens, tee and rough mowers. Duties: Under general supervision, the Spray Technician II is responsible for detecting and diagnosing damaged turf, plants, shrubs, trees, etc.; determines and applies treatment as necessary. Calibrates equipment to ensure proper application of treatments, monitors the results of treatment, and assists with the general maintenance and upkeep of the Island landscape. In addition to spray responsibilities, the Spray Technician II will also perform upkeep and maintenance of golf courses, including mowing, pruning, and clearing debris as necessary. Detects damage to turf, plants, shrubs, and trees, diagnoses cause of damage and determines a treatment plan to rectify problems. Mixes chemicals for proper applications and applies required treatments to damaged greenery. Monitors results of treatments and adjusts dosages applied as needed. Removes dead plants and debris; rakes areas clean for replanting; removes trash. Applies pesticides with careful regard to the safety of humans, wildlife and environment; adheres to legal requirements and recommendations of manufacturers regarding the application of chemicals. Calibrates equipment to ensure the proper application of chemicals regarding quantity and effectiveness. Maintains accurate records of chemical usage and locations of usage. Adjusts treatment applications during inclement weather conditions. Responsible for general upkeep and maintenance of the Island by performing various landscaping duties including mowing, pruning, clearing debris, etc. Completes daily reports and updates on plant and route problems. Performs other duties as assigned.
Salary: $11.50 - 15.00 per hour.
